Is there a free platform for AI voice agents?

Is there a free platform for AI voice agents? Yes, some platforms offer a limited free tier or test credits, and others let you start without a monthly platform subscription. Those offers are different from unlimited free production calls. Compare the testing allowance, usage charges, phone costs, and restrictions before deciding what “free” means for your project.

Separate four kinds of free offer

A free tier is a plan with a limited allowance and defined feature access. Trial credits are a starting balance that can run out. A zero-subscription plan removes the recurring platform fee but can still charge for usage. Open-source software may remove a software license fee while leaving hosting, model, voice, and telephone costs with you.

Ask which category applies before comparing numbers. Ten minutes of test conversations and a platform with no base fee solve different problems. One helps you evaluate an agent; the other may let you run a small paid service without committing to a monthly platform subscription.

Also distinguish a text-to-speech demo from an interactive agent. Generating an audio clip does not by itself provide listening, conversational reasoning, tool use, or a working telephone connection.

A verified example of limited free testing

ElevenLabs’ agent pricing page lists a Free plan with a limited call allowance. As checked on October 18, 2026, it lists 15 included call minutes and four concurrent calls. These figures describe that vendor’s agent plan, not the same allowance in another platform. LLM usage is charged separately on top, and connected carriers bill separately. The same page lists a commercial license under Starter, so verify the applicable license before using a free test for a client service. Check the live ElevenAgents pricing page before relying on the limits.

Use an allowance like this to test a focused scenario: how the agent handles interruptions, answers approved questions, admits uncertainty, and completes a handoff. A polished demo is not enough to establish production suitability. Test the behavior your users will actually need, including an unavailable action or an unclear request.

Do not assume that a provider’s free allowance transfers into a separate agency platform. A direct provider account and an agency service layer can have separate billing arrangements.

What VoiceAIWrapper PayasYouGo includes

VoiceAIWrapper’s PayasYouGo plan has a $0 monthly subscription, one included free client, and test credits. After the included credits are used, continued native AI usage is funded through top-ups. Phone and carrier costs need their own allowance.

VAW includes a native AI engine using OpenAI and ElevenLabs, so an external voice-agent provider account is not a prerequisite for the native route. Agencies can deliver their service through branded client portals and configure client billing through their own Stripe account. Client charges and platform costs remain separate decisions.

For an agency pilot, use the included client to validate one real service workflow before committing to more capacity. Confirm the current test-credit balance in the account and the cost of the selected configuration. Do not advertise an unspecified test balance as a fixed number of guaranteed free minutes.

Expect more than one cost component

A voice-agent deployment can involve model processing, voice generation, transcription, orchestration, and telephony. The way those components are bundled varies. Browser conversations and telephone calls can also have different cost structures.

For example, Vapi’s billing documentation says its usage-only option includes a hosting fee plus model, voice, transcriber, and telephony costs. That illustrates why a single advertised platform rate is not always the whole bill. See Vapi’s pricing and package documentation.

Create a small budget with separate lines for platform subscription, included usage, additional AI usage, phone numbers or calling, integrations, and your support time. Use measured pilot consumption to estimate the next stage. Do not multiply a promotional minute allowance into a revenue forecast without checking which configuration produced it.

Test without creating an unexpected bill

Before testing, inspect the current balance, usage limits, top-up behavior, and any enabled automatic recharge. Decide the maximum pilot spend and who is allowed to change it. Use authorized test contacts, and begin in a browser or sandbox when the selected product supports that workflow.

Run a short, repeatable test set. Record the number and duration of conversations, their outcomes, and the balance consumed. Check the bill after the test instead of assuming that every call cost the headline rate.

If you plan to resell the service, test the client-facing billing flow without collecting money first. Ensure the client sees the intended currency, plan terms, and recharge behavior, then reconcile those settings with your offer.

Use VAW’s browser voice or chat test, or a real test call to your own phone, and inspect the itemized usage afterwards. Free onboarding builds do not mean free ongoing conversations. For VAW Native, model, voice, knowledge-base and platform usage draw from the VAW credit balance, while telephone minutes are billed through your own Twilio account. If credits run out, new calls stop and in-progress calls finish; enabled auto top-up can purchase more credits. Treat recurring included credits as a plan-specific allowance, not a promise of monthly free credits on PayasYouGo.

Choose for the next stage, too

A free start is useful when it helps you answer a real question: does this agent work, can you operate it, and can the service justify its ongoing cost? Select the platform that makes those answers clear.

Keep a prototype small until you understand the paid path. For VAW, that means treating PayasYouGo as a no-monthly-subscription starting point with usage costs, rather than promising customers a permanently free telephone service.
